Wren Hop Vineyards was one of the first wineries to approach us back in 2022 and they had found themselves in an unfortunate set of circumstances with a part way finished design, and a contractor who abandoned the job midway as they went out of business. We met with the owners, assessed the site and made a game plan to turn it around for the wonderful team there and the beautiful land they resided on.

First we did soil samples to analyze the conditions in a freshly graded and compacted area that you could barely stick a shovel into. We created an intensive soil preparation process which included amendments and tilling to create soil which would not just accept plants but allow them to thrive.

Next we redeveloped the planting plan to fill in the missing parts while keeping the integrity of the original vision alive. This meant expanding upon the native palette, and thinking deeply about construction of the waterfall, pathways, walls, and stairway construction. Once the full plan was in place we moved into an installation phase to prepare the winery for visitors during the high season.

By fall, the landscape was thriving and full of pollinators and native butterflies. The next spring, in part due to our native plant remediation efforts and sustainable plant selections, we saw a large population of native Pipevine Swallowtail butterflies that rivals any we’ve seen before or since at any one property. A true testament to regenerative landscaping and planting natives.

Unfortunately it’s all too common to find lovely people who get caught in a bid situation with previous contractors dropping the ball. We strive to provide the complete opposite experience where our clients trust us fully to exceed expectations every step of the way, sometimes that means picking up where others left off and restoring a land owner’s faith in contractors with good intentions, and excellence execution of a landscape plan.
